Director of Technology Operations Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington, Minnesota
Job Location
Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington, Minnesota
Opportunity
Salary Range: $165,000 To $185,000 Annually
Great Clips is in the business of making people’s day — in our salons and through the technology that powers them. Behind every seamless experience is a technology foundation that simply works. The Director of Technology Operations is the leader who ensures that foundation is strong, secure, and predictable.
This role leads the teams and vendor partners responsible for Service Desk operations, enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity execution, disaster recovery, and the overall health of our cloud, network, identity, endpoint, and service management capabilities. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Technology Services, this leader builds the operational disciplines that strengthen reliability, reduce risk, and improve how technology changes are introduced and supported across the organization.
In this role, you will shape an operations engine the business can rely on — one that makes technology predictable, resilient, and a trusted foundation for growth.
Your Mission
As the Director of Technology Operations, you will evolve and scale the operational capabilities that power Great Clips’ technology environment. You will advance our reliability, strengthen our security posture, and refine the service and change disciplines that shape how technology is experienced across the organization.
On your journey, you will take on challenges such as:
- Leading Service Desk, Systems Administration, and IT Operations teams to deliver reliable, high-performing technology services.
- Owning and strengthening enterprise infrastructure across hybrid environments — including cloud platforms, on-premises and co-location systems, network services, identity and access management, and endpoint management — ensuring performance, scalability, and security.
- Owning the execution and continuous advancement of Great Clips’ cybersecurity program — from monitoring and threat detection to awareness, testing, and evolving security standards — ensuring the brand is protected and risks are proactively managed.
- Advancing IT service management practices through a disciplined, metrics-driven operating model that increases predictability, strengthens accountability, and reinforces trust in technology.
- Leading disciplined change execution within IT operations — aligning technical implementation with thoughtful planning, clear communication, and adoption strategies that anticipate employee impact, minimize disruption, and strengthen trust in technology.
- Advancing a transparent, data-informed operations environment where service performance and reliability are clearly measured, communicated, and continuously improved — strengthening organizational confidence in technology.
- Leading disciplined financial and vendor stewardship — optimizing investments across the operations portfolio, strengthening strategic vendor partnerships, and holding vendors accountable for performance, reliability, and value.
- Proactively identifying operational risks and governance needs, partnering with peer leaders to ensure appropriate standards and controls are considered across technology initiatives.
- Ability to listen, earn trust, and accept direct feedback from franchisees while building strong, positive relationships.
Your Expertise
To succeed in this role, you will bring demonstrated experience and leadership in:
- 10+ years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure, or related technology roles, including 5+ years leading managers and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated success leading IT operations and infrastructure in complex, hybrid environments across cloud, on-premises, co-location, and enterprise networking environments.
- Strong working knowledge of core infrastructure domains, including network services, identity and access management, endpoint management, and systems administration.
- Experience leading structured change execution that aligns technical implementation with thoughtful planning, clear communication, and adoption strategies that anticipate organizational impact.
- Experience designing, testing, and reporting on disaster recovery programs and operational resilience capabilities.
- Experience owning and advancing cybersecurity execution, including partnership with external security vendors and oversight of monitoring, testing, and awareness initiatives.
- A proven track record of advancing IT service management practices through disciplined, metrics-driven operating models that increase reliability and predictability.
- A data-driven mindset, using meaningful performance metrics to improve reliability, transparency, and decision-making.
- Financial and vendor management experience, including budget ownership and performance accountability.
- A collaborative leadership approach, partnering effectively across technology and business leaders to ensure infrastructure and operational decisions enable broader organizational goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is desired. Experience supporting multi-site or distributed environments preferred.
Your Work Environment
This is a hybrid work position requiring a combination of in-office workdays and the option to work from home on the remaining days. Working remotely will require reliable, secure internet.
