Banish Boredom and Bond with Your Team

July is anti-boredom month, and as professionals in the beauty industry, we’re ready to give boredom the chop. That’s because our stylist chairs – and the entire salon environment – should feel positive, fun, comfortable, inviting, and relaxing. There’s no room for blah and boring!
So, we’re going to battle. Armed with capes, clippers, and shears, we’re on a mission to help you say goodbye to ho-hum days. Here are nine things you can do to beat boredom in the salon.
1. Plan a backroom potluck or themed snack day — Fight team boredom and hunger at the same time!
2. Show off your favorite hairdos — Host a salon team challenge where everyone sports their favorite, iconic hairstyles.
3. Organize a workshop series — Swap knowledge with your teammates by taking turns showing off your expertise in a particular area, whether it’s related to hair or some other skill.
4. Create a salon vision board — Work together gathering images, quotes, and affirmations that outline a goal or vision for the salon and your team.
5. Practice a new style on a mannequin — Stretch your wings by experimenting with challenging styles and techniques.
6. Watch a video on a trend cut or style — Take advantage of free online resources to expand your knowledge and skills.
7. Create a hair product bingo game — Make a fun, interactive bingo board for your salon team based on product sales or product categories.
8. Give the salon a deep clean — Everything feels brighter and fresher in a squeaky-clean environment. Your teammates will thank you!
9. Create a compliment corner — Designate a spot in the backroom where teammates can post shout-outs and kudos to each other.
