This position is a vital role to the success of Great Clips by providing communication and advisory support to key stakeholders across our franchisee system and internal teams. This role is responsible for planning, executing, and measuring internal communications strategies, activities, and tactics, with a focus on clear, consistent, and transparent communications.

This position manages system news channels, processes, internal resources, and communication plans that reach key stakeholders and collaborates closely across all teams, as well as senior executives, to articulate internally key communications needs to franchisees, their staff, and corporate staff. 

This role also will have the opportunity to lead execution of new communications tools and technologies.    They also will be asked to assess and recommend changes and modifications to internal communications delivery platforms and processes. 

Your Mission

  • Lead the internal communications function on company initiatives, committees/task forces and projects to ensure effectiveness, consistency, and timeliness of messages across relevant channels to reach key stakeholders.
  • Manage systemwide news channels, tools, and processes (e.g., editorial planning/calendar, publications, systemwide emails, and inSite news).
  • Build and maintain relationships across functions and management levels (specialist to CEO), to facilitate planning and execution against communication plans.
  • Understand business issues and recommend appropriate content solutions based on informed decisions.
  • Analyze communication plan effectiveness by developing, managing, analyzing, and reporting metrics
  • Review materials (both internal and external as required) for consistent grammar, punctuation, semantics, and brand style.

Your Expertise
We are seeking a creative self-starter, adept at managing critical relationships and providing strategic counsel to oversee internal communications. The candidate should have experience in the franchise industry and/or multi-unit retail business, be a strong writer, skilled with various communications tech platforms.

Candidate should have excellent strategic thinking skills, bring creative and savvy communications tactics to the role, along with strong interpersonal skills to deliver on the strategy, messaging, and value proposition of the business. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator; and enjoy working on multiple and developing projects in a fast-paced environment. Through collaboration with business areas and project teams, this role ensures delivery of clear, consistent, and relevant messages using both traditional and digital methods. The end-result is the dissemination of high-impact information that engages key stakeholder groups to reinforce and support system priorities.

To land this job you will need to show your proven ability to, and/or possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5-7 years of communications experience, preferably a mix of internal and external communications, in a fast-paced, franchise business and/or multi-unit retail business 
  • 3-5 years of team management experience required, including managing internal team, contractors as well as vendors 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, by leading and participating in cross-functional teams to set internal communications goals, develop strategies, implement plans, and measure results that support business priorities.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to plan, develop and execute integrated communication plans, measure, and report the results, and lead change management for franchisees and internal team members to adopt new technologies (platforms) for communications.
  • Team player, with proven ability to foster and deepen positive working relationships, at all levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and responsiveness are critical because of the high visibility of this team’s work within the company. Available to assist with communication messages on short notice (including nights and weekends as needed).
  • Ability to make judgment calls and offer expert guidance/recommendations on communications efforts.
  • Superb written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong track record of producing high-quality effective communications materials.
  • Ability to establish trust and confidence of executive management (senior leadership team).
  • Proven ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, manage multiple demands, think strategically and solve problems and maintain confidentiality with sensitive or non-public information.
  • Candidate must possess highly professional demeanor, and diplomatic skills.
  • Manage budget and outside vendors.
  • Customer service and people oriented. Flexible team player. Proactive.
  • Comfortable with new and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to focus on details, but also see the big picture.
  • Demonstrated analytical processing, critical-thinking, decision-making and follow-through skills.
  • High level of knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite.  Knowledge or experience with Sitecore and SharePoint preferred. 
  • Travel as needed to represent Great Clips, Inc. communications team at various events, meetings, and photo or video shoots.

Our corporate headquarters are in Bloomington, MN. Our approach to work environment focuses on the balance between teamwork and flexibility which means you will have the ability to work predominately remote (besides monthly in office Connection Days and potential in person team meetings) or in the office based on your personal needs. Our office has lots of natural light, hydraulic desks for standing or sitting and many other amenities, so we are sure you will enjoy your office time as much as working remotely.
